Resistance.

[ 2 ] February 2, 2010 | Milan Ford

I purchased a book for my wife on yesterday; one that I had read a few years ago that I am now revisiting this month. It is called The War of Art, by Steven Pressfield – a must read for anyone who desires to accomplish anything great in their life.

Pressfield throughout this book focuses his attention on how to eliminate what is perhaps the greatest stumbling block you and I have to not only starting, but more importantly, finishing a particular project or goal that we have set for ourselves.

That stumbling block is called RESISTANCE.

“Resistance has no strength of its own. Every ounce of juice it possesses comes from us. We feed it with power by our fear of it. Master that fear and we conquer Resistance.” pg 16

Question: What would you do if you knew that you were your ONLY obstacle?

  1. This reminds me of something that I blogged about a few months ago – “I have recently realized that procrastination, stalling, and even the snooze button on the alarm clock are tools of the enemy to keep us from realizing the promise that God has laid up for us.” You can throw fear and resistance in that mix as well!!! Imagine how God’s kingdom would spread on this earth if His children looked beyond what our natural eyes saw and remembered 1. that we are more than conquerors in Christ, and 2. that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength!!

    • It’s true, I can be my own worst enemy sometimes. I lean on my own understanding and allow fear to set in. When God told Abraham to go, He didn’t say where to go. Faith is an action word, and I must trust God to lead me even when I don’t understand where He is taking me. A tough lesson to learn, but an important one.
