Passing The Baton.

I’ve always been a huge fan of track and field.
Especially the 4×100 men’s relay.

One of the reasons I’ve always enjoyed this particular race was because while it usually involved watching some of the world’s fastest men run against each other, it also featured two of the most difficult tasks one could ever ask a runner to make while in a race:

(1) The Passing Of The Baton.
(2) The Passing Of The Baton (Within A Designated Zone).

While many runners have a long standing fear of being the one who dropped the baton during a race, one rarely hears about the fears associated with runners who pass the baton beyond the designated zone of exchange. While both are worthy of disqualification, it is the latter that I believe most runners overlook.

Sometimes I wonder which will disqualify more ministry leaders over the next few years:

(1) The inability to identify a leader capable of passing a baton to.
or (2) The inability to trust and hand off the baton to a leader once he or she has been identified.

This is powerful writing. It’s brief, it’s true but not comfortably answerable. This helped me today. Thanks.
