Me, Meat, Proverbs, And Lent.

[ 4 ] February 16, 2010 | Milan Ford

On last week, my wife Imani and I sat down together to watch the documentary FOOD INC, which focuses on how much of our meat is processed and manufactured in order for corporations to achieve massive profits. After only 10 minutes into the film, I looked over at Imani and without saying a word, she knew exactly what I was thinking.

Beginning tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, I am going to embark on a NO MEAT diet in honor of Lent season. For exactly forty days (not counting Sundays), all the way through Saturday, April 3rd, I will be limiting myself to just fruits, vegetables, and recipes my wife and I have researched here at VegetarianTimes.com.

In years past, I have attempted NO MEDIA fasts, as well as WATER ONLY fasts, which I have failed miserably at both. But I am determined to see this one through. In addition to withstanding from meat, I am going to commit to reading through the book of Proverbs each morning during this Lent season. I may even focus my blog posts during this season on my reading, which should make these next forty days very interesting.

See ya tomorrow.
