Make Room.
2009 is going great so far.
This is one small reason why…
As many of you already know, my wife and I recently added our third (and final) addition to our family; a new baby boy (Ethan). Along with Ethan, we also have two lovely (and fiesty) daughters, Kayla and Aliyah.
So needless to say, our nice and comfortable 4-bedroom home is not so nice and comfortable anymore. I have for the longest desired to have a personal office in our house, and my new boy just took up that space.
So like most materialistic Americans, we thought it may be time to look for another house soon. Nothing huge, just something that provides a bit more room for both an office, and possibly another family room space.
So as I was thinking about where we should go, I went into the laundry room to wash some whites, and then proceeded into the garage to put up our Christmas stuff, and then it hit me…
…we don’t need to be looking for MORE ROOM this year. We need to be MAKING ROOM.
It’s amazing how much of what we have with us now (money, relationships, time, etc.) goes to waste day after day because of our pursuit of MORE.
Many of us have yet to maximize on what God has already given us for today. This year, before you begin to search for MORE, examine what you may need to just MAKEOVER.
Happy New Year Everyone! (Remember to not just make it happy. Make it productive!)

Thank you and thank you again for that!!!
great transition!!
Good stuff doc! I was thinking about doing the same thing with my garage, along with my new upstairs hidden studio (formerly known as the attic)lol.
Bless Ya!
i love this! I did the same thing years ago in a closet in a spare bedroom that I made into a sitting area. I added a shelf for my workstation and the best part was I could close the closet doors when company came so they couldn’t see my office.
Ok. Cause I was really concerned about what happened to the washer and dryer. Yall got to many kids to take it back to the laundrymat days.Lol. Great blog. And yeah the new family room is a great idea.

I enjoy reading your articles. I like your open and honest style of writing. I am a pastor in Oregon, and your insights give me inspiration for my own sermons. Hope that is alright with you

That should say ‘with’ needs, not ‘we’ needs.
Good morsels, brother! Thanks for the reminder. I won’t be moving our laundry room to the garage since we live in cold Michigan. . . . not that spiritual yet. But, I do see some places we can make room and makeover and get rid of. Thanks for blessing the body.
Ford, the photos make this piece priceless. thanks for this!! It’s a true testament that ‘09 will be what we make it!!
Thank you so much!I truly think this is awesome! We have what we need right before us, because God had provided. He wants us to use our gift of creativeness and desire to make room. Make room in our life for spiritual growth in Him. I have been helped today.
I really like your site! I read your article on Steaming Faith this morning. Good luck with your book. I am sure many will read and say “Amen to That” at every other paragraph. Lord knows there are some things I wish the Black church would stop doing too!! But you know us…it would be too much like right!! Thanks
