Interesting Exchange.

On my way in to work this morning, I saw what I can only describe as a very interesting exchange.

I was at a stop light (one of many on my journey to work) and saw a man approaching the bus stop.

He had to be somewhere between 38-40 years old…
…dressed in slacks and carrying a unlit cigarette in his mouth.

As he approached the bus stop, a younger man passed by him, only to be stopped by the older man whether or not he had a lighter on him. I thought that was strange considering he was the one walking around with the unlit cigarette.

The younger man in fact had a lighter, pulled it out, and allowed the older man to light his.

Then something strange happened. The younger man asked the older man for a cigarette, and the older man obliged…pulling out an entire pack for the younger man to choose from.

The younger man said thanks…put his lighter back into his pocket…and went on his way.

Older man: Cigarettes. No Light.
Younger man: Light. No Cigarettes.

Like I said…interesting exchange.
(pretty long stop light too!)

    Interesting Exchange:
The old man’s light had burned out, along comes light to give light, and in turn the light given is refueled.
We each ahve something that the other needs in order to continue to grow and be used of God. Lets not let us not pass up a chance to help someone in need, you’ll never know if it was really you who needed the help!

    Quite an interesting moment.
It’s moments of servitude like these that we overlook.
Though I wasn’t there to see it in person, I must say… just envisioning it speaks volumes about the simplicity servitude.
