Intentional.
On Sunday (April 26th) – my wife and I dedicated our youngest daughter (Aliyah) and our son (Ethan) back to the Lord at our church (Northpoint Community Church).
It was an experience I won’t soon forget – primarily because our church had a few requirements that we needed to meet before dedicating our children.
{Yes – you read that right – we had REQUIREMENTS} How cool is that?
{The First} Listen to a series of messages on family and parenting.
{The Second} To create a list of 5 CORE VALUES we desired our children to have.
These were the 5 that we came up with:
To Be Loving.
To Be Honest.
To Be Grateful.
To Be Giving.
& To Be Intentional.
Of the 5 – the last is my favorite. It’s a value that I not only wish for my children to embody, but myself as well. Wonder what our world would be like if we lived our lives out INTENTIONALLY.
Our God does nothing by accident – and to live (and lead) in such a manner is a not only a disservice to Him, but to ourselves as well.
I strongly encourage you that for the rest of this year…be INTENTIONAL.
Work INTENTIONALLY.
Love INTENTIONALLY.
Rest INTENTIONALLY.
Forgive INTENTIONALLY. (that’s a biggie)
Worship INTENTIONALLY.
Live INTENTIONALLY.
Stop allowing your day to plan your life.
Your life (and your God-given call) should be planning your day.
{Here’s a few other pics from the dedication}

That papers format sure does look familiar…
Ford!!! In the last few weeks, I have seen the rewards of being intentional in relationships and overall in things that I say and do… I think it’s the key for time management and maintenance on all levels… Great Post!
Hey Milan, Keep it flowing.
I love it! Wonderful values and I appreciate the challenge (which I am sure you will accomplish) you have given yourself as your children’s example. You and Imani are wonderful examples. Great Post!
My favorite post so far. We all need core values to live by. Adding intentional into the list allows us to actually put the values into practice, rather than leaving them into a pretty list that is suitable for framing. We want to be honest? Then we need to INTENTIONALLY make choices to develop that area in ourselves and our children. It will not likely just happen without directed effort. Lots to think about in the days to come. Thanks!
Hey, just read your “Unity, Disunity”on Steamline Faith and it was awesome.
I sooooo… loved it.
But I don’t believe God is looking for the color Grey. I believe the only color is the blood… RED.
It is the RED that takes us from sin to righteous.
And don’t you think it is the the only color that we need to see between the black and white church?
I love the Color red and I believe God does, too… it is the color that does it all. That color was a gift from Him and a costly gift.
So, church look for the RED…the Grey is to dull and it doesn’t wash white as snow. Let the red rain down on the church… Amen!
