But I know that the Coney Island I will miss has not existed for many years now. I mourn for the part of my childhood that it represents, not the dirty, dark, dangerous place that you saw that is about to be torn down. It is a shame, but the shame is that it was allowed to decay, not that what has been inevitable for years is now about to come to pass.
