Chandisms.
On today, I went to hear Dr. Samuel Chand speak at the 2008 Spirit & Truth Conference, sponsored by Bishop Eddie L. Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Along with Bishop Long, Chand is by far one of my all-time favorites. And influences.
Dr. Chand is an incredibly practical teacher and leadership coach; one who has the ability to frame the complex into the simplest of phrases.
Thought I’d share a few he gave on today:
* Don’t try to boil the ocean.
* The more expensive the restaurant, the shorter the menu.
* We tend to give pint-sized people / gallon-sized jobs.
* Change your vision / or change your vehicle.
* The more effective the church – the simpler the org chart.
* You either live your life by design / or default.
* You should make your church a leadership factory.
* When economic challenges hit / they hit vision first.
* Professors get older / but freshmen are always 18.

Hi Milan,
This is the type of post that made me sign up for The Pew View. Thanks for this challenge (and the one about Arby’s and Wendy’s) to us clergy members. We can easily get distracted from our main mission of making disciples. These posts help to keep us focused.
I’m with you…Dr. Chand is an all-time favorite master of words. Thanks for this.
Dr. Chand is great, he always comes to Milwaukee, WI to visit our church! He is unique and I love his teaching!
God Bless
