Blessed Be The Name.

[ 6 ] May 24, 2009 | Milan Ford

My daughter Kayla has a favorite song. Although, it is sung by my favorite artist {Anthony Evans}, she refuses to allow me to play anything else while riding together in the car. I shouldn’t complain too much. There are not many adults for that matter that would fully embrace the incredible dichotomy of faith in God that is found in the lyrics.

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s ‘all as it should be’
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

I can’t imagine how far along Kayla will be because she understood at an early age the double-sided coin God likes to toss from time to time. I found this old video of my daughter Kayla (when she was two) that serves as proof that she really loves this song.

{Please excuse the special appearance of my other daughter Aliyah}

This is also my 4 yr old son’s favorite song. He is adopted internationally and even before he really began speaking English he would get excited each time this song came on. Blessed Be His name indeed!

  4. Hi, cool post. I have been wondering about this topic,so thanks for writing.

That is awesome! I love to hear the little ones singing their favorite gospel song… and not because it was the last song they heard, but because they actually like the song! My son’s favorite song to sing and hear is “Heaven” By Mary Mary and “Oh Give Thanks”.
