Being First vs. Being Right.
One of my favorite old school game shows was Family Feud. Always thought if my family had the opportunity to be on that show, we would have a made a killing. Not because of our ability to work together, but because every contestant seemed to have the same fundamental flaw:
They wanted to answer first more than they wanted to answer right.
As church ministry leaders, there are times when we are guilty of the same. Answering right is not always popular because it takes more thought and time. Answering first always seems more cool.
That is of course until we open our mouths.

That was very a very effective analogy about wanting to be first instead of learning to be right. Check out http://www.storytellerchurch.com and see their very effective visual analogies too. I love your blogs and have sent your sight to over 100 people.
I thought the object of the game was to be first and right to gain an advantage over the opponents? So…
Great observation Crystal. But in the (game) of life and ministry, being first without being right – can be dangerous.
Thanks for the great laugh! It’s too true of us all at times.
So true, and very funny — leaders need to laugh more, listen more and speak timely — in God’s will.
