A Dream Fulfilled
On yesterday, America made history.
History that at one time was only a dream.
So like millions around the world, with a renewed mind and spirit that what others had once said was impossible, or perhaps always needing to be deferred, has now become a reality…
…I woke up today pondering this question:
What happens to a dream…fulfilled?
Does it rise up
like a rye or wheat stalk?
Or dangle low like a sloth
And then walk?
Does it smell like a garden rose?
Or freeze in time
just to strike a pose?
Does it compare what is now
to what was then?
Or maybe it is just free now to dream yet again?

The dream of Dr king was a seed it has began to bud and sprout though it has yet to come to maturity. I would love to agree with the notion that the dream is finally realized, however, we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a check for debts owed to us as a people. Though we’re at the bank and the bank is open we haven’t withdrawn the necessary currency that fulfills the dream. Barack is the beginning and its a huge step in the process but because there are black men and women who continue to be criminalized and those who don’t receive the unalienable rights to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness regardless of race.
THY WILL WAS DONE. I lived in NY for 30 years…until right 3 months after 9/11 and haveworked in the INT’L DISASTER RELIEF Industry during the “CONTINUED” times of Darfur, the Tsunami and Katrina. In these instances, there were FACTUAL discussions of certain races and social classess being left behind and ignored or left unsupported by inequities in government relief.
NOT THIS TIME…as a naturalized US citizen. originally from Jamaica – who is registered to vote as an Independent because I do not believe in a two party system per say and vote merely from weighing the issues and policies of all). NEVER IN MY PERSONAL HISTORY IN AMERICA HAVE I SEEN SUCH WIDELY DEMONSTRATED.. ALIGNMENT AND COMMITMENT TO IMPACTING… THE MUCH NEEDED CHANGE AND THE RELIEF CRISIS IN AMERICAN DEMOCRACY – and I might add…by human beings in the human race…people from ALL walks for life – irregardless of pignmentation, race, color, creed. age, backgrounds or life circumstance – TRULY WONDEROUS – OCCASSION…
WHILE I FOR ONE TRY VERY HARD TO REMAIN OBJECTIVE AND TO DO AS THEY SAY…KEEP SEPERATE…CHURCH AND STATE – WHICH WE CAN NOT TRULY DO IN THE HUMAN MIND BODY AND SPIRIT ANY WAY… I MUST SAY…BELIEVE WANT CHA WANT..BUT GOD HIMSELF…HAD TO STEP IN AND TAKE CHARGE ON THIS ONE…IN A WAY THAT THERE IS NO QUESTION OR DOUBT THAT HE DID NO T HAVE A HAND IN THIS..IN A MAJOR WAY…AND WE NEED TO ALL SIT BACK AND TRULY ACKNOWLEDGE…”YES, GOD CAN. ES HE WILL, AND YES HE DID…APPEAL TO THE GREATER GOOD IN OUR ALL…”….Especially AT A TIME WHEN OUR GOVERNMENT AND INSTITUTIONS SEEM TO BE ABUSING THEIR FREE WILL…
WE THE PEOPLE..FINALLY ARE SEEING THAT WE NEED TO START BEING THE PEOPLE …. AND KNOW THAT IT IS TIME FOR US ALL TO LET GO, LET GOD AND STEP UP HIGHER….THERE IS BUT SO MANY TIMES THAT GOD WILL BAIL US ALL OUT…

Trully President Elect Obama has done a great thing in reaching this goal but this is only a milesone, it is only the next step in becoming all that we can become, doing all that we can do and having all that we can have. We all must step up and do our part again. first part was getting out and voting, and getting our friends and neighbors to vote. Now that that is done we must each of us in our own world of influence step up to the plate and do what we can in our world of influence to make this America a better place and if each of us is willing to do our part then this world trully will become a better place. Let us not sit back and wait for Mr. Obama to do it all, he can’t, it will take all of us doing our part as well.
